1.WALTER GROPIUS "SCOPE OF THE OVERALL ARCHITECTURE"

This is a collection of works of art (1924-1954) by the first director of the Bauhaus. The "Studying" part introduces you to the school concept and its curriculum: what it looked like at first and why what deep-rooted perceptions were given up later what was new about it. The other parts of the book tell of the architecture itself including mass living its rules and the role the architect plays in it.

2. JOHANNES ITTEN "DESIGN AND FORM" OR "THE ART OF COLOR"

Johannes Itten was one of the school's most notable teachers. Here he talks about the historical concepts of color theory – from the physical properties of a color to its composition. Itten invents its own version of the color wheel and emphasizes the importance of complementary colors and types of contrast. He is certain: Before you start with the objects and figures on the canvas you should think about how your viewer perceives the colors and what mood is conveyed by the selection and combination of them.
